Here's what we were working with - a home addition getting a full roof installation and siding prep from the ground up. The upper story is wrapped in Tyvek HomeWrap, ready for new siding, while the roofline on both the existing structure and the new addition needed a shingle that could handle whatever gets thrown at it year after year.
For the roof, we went with the Malarkey Legacy shingle. It's a 50-year shingle, which isn't something you see on every job. Most standard installs use shingles rated for far less. When a homeowner is building an addition and investing that kind of money into their home, cutting corners on the roof just doesn't make sense.
The Malarkey Legacy is designed for long-term performance - impact resistance, wind resistance, and a warranty that actually means something decades from now. We're a Malarkey Certified Contractor, so we can back that warranty up properly. That matters more than most homeowners realize when it comes time to make a claim.
What we always say is this - a roof isn't something you want to revisit in 10 or 15 years because the material didn't hold up. Get it done right the first time with a product and crew you can trust. That's the standard we hold ourselves to on every job, whether it's a simple replacement or a full new-construction roof like this one.
The siding work is still in progress here, with the Tyvek wrap doing its job as a moisture barrier underneath. Getting that layer right before siding goes on is just as important as the shingles themselves. We handle both roof installation and siding, so nothing gets missed in the handoff between trades.
